Dumb question: let's say you want a pizza quickly, & *not* delivery or takeout. What *vegetables,* quickly prepped, would you put on it? If you like, consider anything from totally made from scratch to "I have a frozen cheese pizza & want to add to it." What do you *actually* do?

Edited to add: Also, do you cook any uncooked veggies separately before putting them on the pizza? #food #pizza #veggies #vegetables

We harvested some green beans today. I recommend them especially if you have trouble growing food. They're super easy, just need room to climb. Much easier than tomatoes because other critters don't bother them (in our experience). Plus the more you pick the more that grow so it's the gift that keeps on giving! If you have multiple plants you for sure could feed the neighborhood.

I grow 4 kinds of #sorrel on year round basis - common garden sorrel, Arctic dock, Belleville sorrel & Patience dock. The assorted sorrel salad greens pots are moved into small greenhouse in Winter. I do succession sowing every 2 weeks for continous harvest. I let the strongest plants go to seed & use those seeds to grow more.

The time we spent in Urubamba (in the sacred valley of Cusco Peru) in the cozy bungalow was really good for us. It was nice to just be there for ourselves ☺️ and take care of our well-being. Every day we cooked fresh vegetables 🍆🍅🥑🥕🌽🫑🥒🥦🧄🧅and tried out all kinds of potato varieties - apparently there are still over 3'000 of potato 🥔 varieties cultivated here in Peru.
We also enjoyed the huge selection of delicious fruits🍎🥭🍍🍌🍋🍊🍉. The strawberries 🍓 reminded us of our childhood - super sweet, fruity and simply heavenly! That's why I also made strawberry jam, which we then devoured together with freshly baked (in the fire) bread 🫓 made from oat and yuca flour.

The animals - the cats 🐱🐈 dogs 🐶🐕 and the chicken Houdina 🐔 - also seemed to like our presence, as they were constantly around us 🥰

I think I shared this tip before a year or so ago, but here it is again: If you store lettuce (like a head of red leaf) upright in the refrigerator with its bottom end in a container with a little cold water, then cover the whole thing loosely with a plastic bag (like a mini greenhouse), it will last longer and will even keep growing a little bit. All the tiny leaves in the middle of the first photo are newly grown after about two weeks, and are incredibly fresh and crisp. 🥬

This works with a bunch of celery, too, and herbs like cilantro or parsley. Just change the water if it gets a little old or discolored.
