We recently had an exciting visitor to our #garden - an Old World Swallowtail - resulting in a handful of spectacular caterpillars. All but 2 got eaten by birds. 1 made it to Chrysalis - and the other has become a short term pet, in an airated box with food in (obviously called Colin). All good.

The Chrysalis emerged to huge excitement on Friday. What a beast!

Apparently it doesn't belong in #Jersey but we are delighted to have it visit. Immigrants welcome

Serious excitement in the east side of #Jersey - we’ve had 6.3mm of rain this week. That makes a total of 8.4mm in the last month. And pretty much zero the month before

That’s really not enough for any veg and flower #gardener - and I suspect (I’m away from home) the garden will have had a very dry gasp and effectively ignored it.

And no more rain in the forecast. Hmmm. Unsustainable…

@ewen in #Jersey they have restricted residential home letting to 12 weeks a year max. That feels like it might work. Not enough for speculators but plenty for those who own but want to earn a bit to travel. Let’s see.

AirBnB (and BOOKING.com) also let properties on stolen land in the West Bank so they are just a straight up criminal enterprise and should be treated as such

The mooring ropes have been cast off and my journey to Channel Islands Pride has begun! This year it's hosted in Jersey (it alternates between Jersey and Guernsey) so I'm taking a ferry.

Some of the related events are booked up, but I'm not sure they'd have been up my street - I'm mostly hoping to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the food and vibes.

Is anyone else going? If so, it would be great to say hello :)

The whole island of Jersey is in “a state of nerves and uncertainty” because of a growing crime wave. An official said, “Jersey is now one of the wickedest places in the United Kingdom. Teenage reefer parties are adding to our troubles.”
