@JonathanGerlach for those looking for a #Tailscale alternative, there isn't only #Headscale, the open re-implementation of the control server, but there's also the similar, but completely independent #Netbird
https://github.com/netbirdio/netbird
Haven't tried it out yet myself, but it looks quite nice.
Any ideas?

If you have used and loved #Tailscale, and you still like the product but want a sensible insurance option to reduce your exposure to potential #enshittification, what *hosted* options have you looked at as alternatives?
Part of the appeal of #Tailscale for me at least was that they provided a really thoughtful UX layer over some existing cool OSS tech like #wireguard.
Also, many of us have tried self-hosting and want to minimise what they self host if at all possible.

#Tailscale just secured $160M of venture capital.

I can't be the only one noticing how much the blog post talks about "AI", right?
I'm somehow glad that this happened before I ever found the time to thoroughly integrate Tailscale into my infrastructure.

@nelson I think I said something similar during my epiphany: "The hardest thing about Tailscale is realising there are no hard things about Tailscale".
I hope you, our valued customer, are as happy as we are that thanks to the Dark Money Corp, we have the opportunity to squeeze more than $100 million out of you in fees, surcharges and subscriptions as we scramble to make quota for the next tranche of highly speculative capital.
Yours,
fkn #Tailscale, apparently.
Having a #networking #tech question: What would be a good low power solution for a #tailscale node on my home network that allows for exit traffic? Currently running on my NAS which pushes it to running at 30-35W continuously rather than the more usual 15-25W.
More experimentation with @readeck
Since it is running on local on my #MacBook in an external SSD, and my #iPadPro is my main device to explore the web, I needed a solution to save pages.
I created a #shortcut on #iOS that use #Tailscale to connect to my MacBook to make an API call. It works very good!
My next trick is to install #Readeck on a #docker container, on my #Synology #NAS. More on this soon..

Just successfully set up a personal searxng instance on a raspberry pi on my tailnet so I can access it with all my devices and I’m feeling like a hacker-ninja. Time for bed.
#searxng #docker #raspberrypi #selfhosting #tailscale #linux
Schade eigentlich. Tailscale WAR ganz nett.
Ok. #Tailscale ist für mich gestorben.
Die akzeptieren nur Identity Provider zu Anmeldung. Völlig inakzeptabel.
@zak I'm running #tailscale with exit nodes on my home network, so when I enable it on my phone, I get both ad-blocking DNS (pihole at home) and access to home resources at the same time. Based on #wireguard.
