@mina I hope one day the kids will ask for an explanation.
That would be great.
@mina
Another reason Trans people are seen as a threat. They can speak to personal experience as both man and woman.
@mina I want to add that this joke is shockingly progressive for 1985.
The unnamed protagonist transitions, and is immediately correctly gendered by the joke. The friends react warmly. And the real issue that the trans person faces is prejudice, and not medical.
And that in a lads' mag!
@mina @TomSwirly
The same lads' mag that gave Wendy Carlos a 15 page interview in 1979.
@mina@berlin.social BWHAHAHA I did not expect to get a laugh from this but I did. I love jokes that poke fun at society.
There was a joke similar to this when I was a kid, but the end was "having half my brain removed" or something like that.
@mina months after transition is just the right length of time to go from best performing engineer in the company to on a PIP despite your output being the same so yup that scans
@mina It's the kind of joke that today's comics claim they are being unfairly silenced and targeted for, because they're too edgelordy - and not legitimately clever or funny enough - to make it.
