European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced on Sunday that the European Union’s 19th package of sanctions against Russia is set to be unveiled in early September.

“As long as the bloodshed in Ukraine continues, Europe will maintain diplomatic and, in particular, economic pressure on Russia”.

@JohannesReetz you’d like to think so but #starmer is so embedded in #trump ’s rear end and #vonderleyen has led the capitulation of the #eu into a trade deal that locks them into #us dependency that I fear we’ll just see more bumbling along hoping naively that a) 🇺🇸 will hold free & fair elections in 26 & 28, b) Dems will win both houses then presidency and c) that, even if they did, Dems would be any more reliable allies to #ukraine than #traitor #trump

And Austria of the past is the prime example here, it did not become a fascist state because of the Nazis. (They took over a bit later.) It was a Christian conservative, democratic chancellor, Egelbert #Dollfuß who wanted more power and so he became the #austrofascist leader of the country.

Most people here think they are safe as long as somebody as #vonderLeyen runs things. But they don't even know who she...
