#upcycled

I've almost made another fabric patch #upcycled from jeans!

The lighter scrap jean material were from a pair donated to the thrift shop I work at: and were unsellable. The other was a pair of mine that had a pen leak. The white fabric is a from a jean pocket.

Made a bunch I plan to sew them on thrifted jeans and sell them... similar to my over-shirt like.

The classic circulation water pumps used in heating systems are just the best for #aquaponics. We have an #upcycled #pump that worked in our house for 20 years. It stopped this morning. I was carrying watering cans from the filter to the plants (aquaponic equivalent of cpr) until we got a replacement, a virtually identical one, the tech haven't changed. We thought the OG pump is dead, we disassembled it and it turned out it was just limescale! There's nothing to break there, this pump can work another 20 years. We removed the scale, added some vaseline and reassembled the pump. It works again like nothing ever happened! It's amazing.

@cobordism @hyc @voxel It's called #mathematics, because #ASIC|s are simply manufactured #eWaste by virtue of being non-reuseable nor upcycle-able.

Your reply indicates that you ain't aware of fundamentals like what an ASIC is, that producing ICs is inherently bad for the envoirment and that these are just bad per concept, thus you've disqualified yourself with the saneist reply from any discussion.

Treasures from the silk road! These vintage Banjara embellished coin medallions have been given new life as earrings.

I have long been inspired by the rustic metalwork of the nomadic Banjara and Kuchi tribes-- the original masters of creative re-use and colour and texture juxtaposition, using what you have to make something new and beautiful.

I made "upcycled" sweatpants, using 3 hoodies which were damaged and destined for the bin.

The pattern is custom, I drafted it for my measurements. YouTube tutorials helped a lot.

The color blocking is inspired by ThriftyTroutxMedeArt @ Etsy. I added orange accents, next time I'll push the color and details much further!

@warthog9 @kwf Granted, I doubt anyone's gonna #mirror OS/1337 anytime soon and I do want some fallback to enshure that if #GitHub were to ever pull a #DockerHub, nothing would impact the end-users...

But that's more of a hypothetical as of now.

Still I do find this insightful and yes, if I had the €€€€€ upfront to get it started I would've lilely offered people #upcycled #ThinClients and #MiniPC's as cheap #Servers long ago - it's just that #Colocation amd Hardware ain's free...

I'll keep that conversation in mind.
After all, any #netboot #infrastructure would require me to setup classic #mirrors anyway...

#WIPWednesday: ok, I finished the #tatting. But it's not fully attached to the thrift store cloche yet. I think it should settle a bit.

Rose-and-vine tatting pattern from Be-Stitched: be-stitched.com/07/4816/tatted

I want to re-do the roses with some new thread I got from @yarnplayer and I think it'd like to make a linen summer cloche with a more refined version of this trim--with nicer hand-dyed thread.
