This EoL release after an EoL release is unexpected, but certainly not unnecessary. A bug in the shared library naming in Sqlite was briefly introduced in FreeBSD ports going into 25.1.11 which is also a likely cause for reported update issues ...

Well, luckily I remembered OPNsense only supports the amd64 architecture.
So.. What can you people recommend for hardware? protectli boxes? Or some cheap fanless NUC?

This maintenance release will also be the EoL version for the 25.1 series.
It ships the latest FreeBSD SA/EN patches plus other third party security
updates and a few minor fixes.

So excited about getting my new home firewall/router:
TLSense N100L4: 4x 2.5Gbit LAN, N100 CPU, 256GB NVMe SSD, 16GB RAM.
It will be running OPNSense and I'm really looking forward replacing all these horrible ASUS Routers that I've insisted on running.
@merlin consider #pfSense, #OPNsense, #ipFire or if you go > 10GBit/s, #tnsr instead.
Angeschlossen und erstmals gestartet. Was mich wundert dass es sehr warm im Betrieb wird. Ich kann es nicht einschätzen ob das normal ist aber wenn jetzt schon so viel Hitze erzeugt wird, bei wenig last, werden die elektrische Bauteile nicht lange durchhalten.
Endlich funktioniert die Endpoint-Erkennung VLAN-übergreifend wieder bei meinem ROON Server. ROON hätte gerne alle Klienten im gleichen Netzwerksegment. Dann klappt die Erkennung auf Anhieb. Bei mehreren VLANs wird's dann schwierig. Da muß man tiefer in die Trickkiste bei den Multicast-Einstellungen greifen.
Alte Firewallregeln in der OPNsense-Firewall entfernt und gut durchdachte neue hinzugefügt und schon funktioniert es wieder VLAN-übergreifend.
OPNsense 25.1.9 released
This smallish update brings in more preparation for future features
and reworks and fixes a couple of bugs reported over the last weeks.
The patch size for 25.1.x will likely not increase in future updates
as 25.7 is near: July 23. Save the date!
