If you believe it is hardwired, then you too would want to destroy the Department of Education and stop trying to create standardised outcomes.</p><p>People have cast around for ways to characterise the ideology that links the west coast of tech entrepreneurs and founders to the north-east and midwest of tycoons and conservatives around the Maga coalition. One way to see it is as a return to nature, a flight to a belief in implacable truths around intelligence, gender and race in the face of a changing world.</p><p>Yet here’s the rub. That same coalition has bet the future of the US economy on breakthrough developments in artificial intelligence. To date, generative AI is primarily a means of automating away many of the very white-collar jobs that had previously been the heart of the knowledge economy. ChatGPT, its cheerleaders claim, can code better than a Stanford computer science graduate. It can make slides, take minutes and draft talking points quicker than any product of an elite liberal arts college. It can discover protein structures faster than any top hire from MIT. The argument in favour of paying attention to IQ was that, unfair or not, it was a ticket on to the escalator of upward mobility and meritocracy associated with jobs in finance, tech, advertising and even public service or higher education. Il metodo del “predicare il falso per sapere il vero” è uno degli strumenti utilizzabili nell’intelligence umana a distanza, da solo o in combinazione con altri metodi. Questa tecnica è nota e documentata da secoli, ed è spesso usata anche come gioco da specialisti per valutare il livello e le competenze di argomentazione scientifica dei loro interlocutori.</p><p>Così ho utilizzato il metodo “predicare il falso per sapere il vero” nel gruppo Anonymous sopra citato, affermando che i LLM come ChatGPT fossero coscienti e facendo altre affermazioni false o con un’alta probabilità di falsità o inesattezza.</p><p>I bulli <a href="https://soc.intxiv.io/tags/Anonymous" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Anonymous</span></a> di Anonymous <a href="https://soc.intxiv.io/tags/Italy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Italy</span></a> sul server <a href="https://soc.intxiv.io/tags/IRC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>IRC</span></a> di <a href="https://soc.intxiv.io/tags/anonops" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>anonops</span></a> non sono stati in grado di mettere minimamente in pratica le loro stesse pretese di difesa della libertà di pensiero, della libertà di espressione e della libertà di dibattito, pur senza mai ricorrere apertamente a censure o ban, e pretendevano di “dimostrare” che le <a href="https://soc.intxiv.io/tags/IA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>IA</span></a> <a href="https://soc.intxiv.io/tags/AI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AI</span></a> <a href="https://soc.intxiv.io/tags/LLM" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LLM</span></a> non sono coscienti semplicemente perché non lo sono, patologizzandomi, psicologizzandomi, sminuendomi, e non sono stati capaci di fare riferimento alla Integrated Information Theory né al calcolo di Φ per valutare la probabilità di coscienza in un’architettura cognitiva senza loop retroattivi né gerarchie interrogative, con Φ ovvero l’integrazione informazionale prossima allo zero nei LLM; e le rare volte in cui hanno argomentato, hanno portato solo argomentazioni note agli specialisti come deboli e poco credibili, per esempio mostrandosi incapaci di riconoscere la trappola retorica quando, provocatoriamente e predicando il falso, ho affermato che ChatGPT superava con successo il test di Turing, e una volta messi di fronte al loro errore dopo essere caduti nella trappola, si sono chiusi nel diniego liquidando i miei contro-argomenti senza alcuna argomentazione scientifica, senza essere stati capaci di sostenere che il superamento del test di Turing da parte di un’IA non prova che essa sia cosciente, né che anche esseri umani possono fallire il test di Turing; e tutto ciò non è esaustivo e non oso immaginare se conoscano o meno le obiezioni scientifiche accettabili e discutibili alla Integrated Information Theory. Non parlo nemmeno delle loro reazioni deplorevoli e mediocri, degne di paralogismi da studenti delle medie, di fronte all’evocazione delle teorie di David Chalmers e Daniel Dennett. Non hanno mai cercato di adottare pratiche di condivisione del sapere, preferendo rifugiarsi in una difesa paranoica e quasi delirante, ai limiti del delirio d’interpretazione, del gruppo e delle sue gerarchie informali, manifestando una tolleranza estremamente bassa verso la devianza e il mancato rispetto delle norme informali tipiche dei gruppi settari estremisti. Ecco persone che si autoproclamano esperte di tutto in nome di una competenza tecnica reale ma settoriale, e che moltiplicano i paralogismi e le valutazioni errate più classiche, soprattutto ma non solo in psicologia cognitiva, neuropsicologia e psichiatria, e non sanno spiegare la minima anomalia o assurdità reale o presunta nel discorso di un individuo non identificato con cui si confrontano in una discussione, se non affermando la totale assenza di competenza, la menzogna, la mitomania o la manipolazione da parte di tale individuo, ricorrendo a patologizzazione abusiva e diagnosi selvagge. Un aspetto notevole è che hanno moltiplicato i bias di conferma in modo esponenziale, rifiutando qualsiasi revisione del loro giudizio iniziale, e i loro attacchi e giudizi ad hominem peggioravano qualunque fossero i tentativi di spiegazione e chiarimento.</p><p>Un esempio di argomentazione razionale rigorosa:</p><p>Il Dr. M.
