Yesterday, at a gathering in Jaffa organized by the Association for the Arabs of Jaffa, activists met the crew of the who were recently released after being intercepted by Israeli forces at sea. The crew of the Flotilla stood in solidarity with hunger strikers. Among them is Mai Shahin, a CfP activist and co-founder of Satyam, who has now gone over 42 days without food, in unwavering solidarity with the people of Gaza.

is starving before the world’s eyes.

say:
“We refuse to continue living our lives as usual while starvation is used to destroy the lives of an entire people and to destroy the common future of all of us. We believe that true peace begins with joint nonviolent resistance to injustice.”

They are calling on all of us to take part as they have launched a hunger strike:

"We urge you to not look away. This moment demands moral clarity and courage. We must stay engaged, even when it feels overwhelming, and we must raise our voices against policies that treat food as a weapon.

Speak out. Support humanitarian organisations. Contact your representatives. Share verified information. And join us in demanding that the blockade on food and aid be lifted now."

Today I feel overwhelmed with helplessness and pain over what’s happening in . The , the hunger, the slow death from lack of food - it’s unbearable.

A friend of mine from Gaza, who’s never asked for anything throughout all these years, reached out today for the first time in four years. She simply said: I’m hungry.

She didn’t ask for money — just food. And I have no way to get it to her. I don’t know how to help. And that breaks me.

That doesn’t make my fear any less real, or my instinct to protect my family any less urgent. But it forces me to ask: how can we live in a place where some lives are protected and others are not? Where safety depends on your identity, your city, your side of the wall? This war didn’t just shake my sense of security. It made it clear how unequal that security is. And I don’t want my kids to grow up thinking that’s normal."

"When something happens in Gaza — or now with Iran — we brace ourselves. Here in the West Bank, we know it means more raids, more road closures, more settler attacks. Last week, settlers came down from the outpost near us and torched part of my cousin’s olive grove. The fire spread fast. We called the fire department, but they couldn’t get through — the army had already closed the road.

While others choose vengeance, our peacebuilders choose connection — even when it means separation from their families, safety, and stability. They make these sacrifices not out of naivety, but out of deep conviction: that a different future is still possible, if we have the courage to fight for it together."

"War has broken out between Israel and Iran. [...] At the same time, continues to starve and the remains under military lockdown. Fear is deepening, trust is unraveling, and it’s getting harder to know what to believe, let alone how to stay hopeful. But through all of it, people are still showing up — organizing, resisting, and refusing to give in to the logic of violence.

On June 16, join a one-day international solidarity fast led by and an Israeli-Palestinian coalition in the region:

Fast for Freedom: A Joint Day of for Gaza

This fast is not directed at political leaders, but to the people - to Gazans and to the hostages. It is a way to say and embody:

“We see you. We will not look away. We unite our thoughts, hearts, bodies, and actions with you. We will not stop until you are safe and free.”

"Our leaders will try to convince us that violence is justified. That bombing the enemy will bring safety or freedom to our people. We know that is not true and we yearn for the day where it is not “us vs them” but “us and them” together, striving for peace, freedom and equality for all. We know this is possible from our experience in our movement of Palestinian and Israeli nonviolent activists and our special coalition with Iranian peace activists."

Join us to fast for , from wherever you are in the world.

and hunger strikes have historically been used as a powerful nonviolent tool for resisting injustice. Palestinians in who served time in Israeli jails, have participated in hunger strikes to demand their basic human rights, and so we follow their lead in this action."

There are many ways to oppose :

"We, , and our partners invite you to leave your tables empty for one day as a commitment to freedom, dignity and life for the people of .

We are Palestinians, Israelis and international activists calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, a prisoner/hostage deal and freedom, equality and safety for all between the river and the sea.

We will not remain silent while children are being starved."

We call again for the immediate and unconditional release of the hostages. Simultaneously, Israel must immediately stop its attacks, cease its policy of starvation, open the crossings for entry of aid to Gaza, and allow aid organizations in the Strip to carry out their work."

Don't stand by!
