For most of the summers of my married life my husband worked as an aerial firefighter.
He would be working somewhere in California from May until the end of October. Some years until Christmas.
I would see cloud build ups like these to the east of our house and I would hope for no lightening, no fires and that there would be no flying into weather that shouldn't be flown in.
I was always relieved to get my late evening phone call and know that all was well. Not seeing him on the news was good.
I think he misses those days more than I do.

I had to go to Walgreens Pharmacy a few months ago (exciting!), so I did my evening walk at the nearby Southeast Park in Amarillo, TX. Not really a Mecca for photographers, so I didn't bring along my "serious" gear. I do always keep my "point-and-shoot" compact zoom camera (Panasonic LUMIX DC-ZS200) in my car just in case, and I wound up doing a handheld long-ish exposure (like a crazy person) with this wintry cypress tree in the lake. I'd call it a victory for my little point-and-shoot...and I'd say I can hold pretty steady! #tree #cypress #lake #water #sunset #longexposure #Texas #nature #landscape #clouds #sky
