Escaping consumerism means escaping capitalism

youtube.com/shorts/koe4QZBkyLM

Consumerism is a symptom, not the disease! Why 'buying better' WON'T solve the climate crisis. Is capitalism to blame for environmental collapse? It may be time to break free from consumerism and build power from the ground up towards

Walking, Running, and Business

Unfortunately, in our modern society centered around automobility and sedentary lifestyle habits, as well as the crisis that is capitalism that results in “infinite growth,” a concept that does not exist in reality, we are unfortunately very busy in our modern commitments to arbitrarily increasing our numbers in every possible dimension–profit for the sake of profit. Until very recently, I have been relatively well-known for my extreme levels of mobility with walking, running, and other […]

Why should we rent the essentials of daily life we already own? Paywalling them behind monthly fees is absurd.

Imagine being told your stove won’t cook dinner unless you’ve paid this month’s subscription, it’s the same scammy logic as locking the full performance of a car you already bought behind a monthly fee.

City councils & BC government should both be working WITH marginalized & vulnerable communities to help more people out of poverty & abusive situations because investing in community directly has always improved community safety more than giving cops more funds to waste every year.

Instead - these governments tend to try & criminalize #poverty & using cop thugs to harm more than help.

How do markets under capitalism see the world? As a bunch of seralized inputs. This capitalist “serialization” process isn't without complications, mainly it's brittle and easily hijacked. Read how the capitalist stack gets hacked.

One more thing, then I'll illustrate what worries me in the new paper nature.com/articles/s41586-025

Ofc, it's all rather theoretical. Sucking CO2 from the atmo requires a huge amount of surplus renewables that we won't ever do much #DACS
#BECCS for electricity needs a 2nd power plant next to it to power the actual capturing of CO2 during biomass burning😁 .
Not profitable and also can't grow beyond 3-4Gt/year bc energy plants compete with food and #biodiversity
It's incompatible to #capitalism 🖖🏽

NatureA prudent planetary limit for geologic carbon storage - NatureA risk-based, spatially explicit analysis of carbon storage in sedimentary basins establishes a prudent planetary limit of around 1,460 Gt of geological carbon storage, which requires making explicit decisions on priorities for storage use.

"Every single empire in its official discourse has said that it is not like all the others, that its circumstances are special, that it has a mission to enlighten, civilize, bring order and democracy, and that it uses force only as a last resort. And, sadder still, there always is a chorus of willing intellectuals to say calming words about benign or altruistic empires, as if one shouldn't trust the evidence of one's eyes watching the destruction and the misery and death brought by the latest mission civilizatrice."
