Tonight is Holocaust Memorial Eve in Israel – /'e-rev yom ha-sho-'ah/ עֶרֶב יוֹם הַשּׁוֹאָה –

And tomorrow we mark /yom ha-sho-'ah/ יוֹם הַשּׁוֹאָה, Holocaust Remembrance Day.

It’s a day that stops an entire country in its tracks.

A siren will sound and life will pause – cars will stop, people will rise to their feet –

And we remember.

We remember not only the six million who were murdered.

But the lives they lived.

The dreams they dreamed.

The songs they sang.

We remember the strength of those who survived and rebuilt – against all odds – lives, families, futures.

In Israel, the memory is not distant history.

It’s personal.

It’s stories passed down around dinner tables.

It’s a middle name given to honor someone lost.

It’s the silence in a grandparent’s eyes when they hear a certain melody.

Today and tomorrow, we honor.

We remember.

And since Oct 7, it is very clear that sadly, never again is now.

Somehow I am glad that our president knows at least the history of #Europe. Because just 2 years ago he wanted to monitor all Russian people like "when WWII started, all Japanese population living in the United States was under a strict monitoring regime as well". It is worth supporting Wikipedia so that people can find out what happened to the Japanese in the USA

Followerstarke Acc. die jetzt monatelang "ceasefire now" auf allen Kanälen posteten. Sich Richtung Antisemiten entwickelten.
Am 7. Oktober laut schwiegen. Und jetzt auch wieder knallhart sowohl die befreiten als auch die verstorbenen Geiseln der Hamas völlig ignorieren. Gleichzeitig lapidar und emotionslos einen post zum #holocaustmemorialday absetzen.
Seit dem Waffenstillstand aber kein Wort mehr zum gesamten Thema schreiben.

Die Größe vom Gelände,das Tempo,aber auch die Tatsache,dass die meisten Überlebenden hier interniert waren.

ich finde es echt schwierig, dass ihr von "KZ-Besuchen" schreibt. Es gibt keine KZ mehr. Das sind alles Gedenkstätten bzw. ehemalige Konzentrationslager. Ja, ich weiß, dass das korinthenkackerisch wirkt. Aber eine Gedenkstätte erinnert an das Grauen und gedenkt der Toten, ein KZ IST das Grauen und tötet.
