WeddingweiserDer dreieckige Platz im Wedding mit der Wasserpumpe, an der Ecke Malplaquetstraße/Utrechter Straße, erhält einen neuen Namen. Auf Initiative von Bündnis 90/Die Grünen und der Linksfraktion Mitte wurde in der Bezirksverordnetenversammlung am 23. Januar beschlossen, ihn in “Franziska-Bereit-Platz” umzubenennen. Diese Entscheidung ehrt den Mut von Franziska Bereit, die während des Zweiten Weltkriegs Mitglieder der jüdischen Familie Silbermann in ihrer Einzimmerwohnung versteckte und ihnen so das Leben rettete. D.h. dieser männliche Name ist zu achten und zu respektieren und nicht das Fremd-Outing durch die Schwiegermutter. Die Tafel wurde erst im vergangenen April von Anwohner:innen finanziert und enthüllt.
