This means that...📢🦐 We went to Maidenhead Aquatics in Coton, yesterday and brought back 5 red cherry shrimps (sakura) and a zebra nerite snail. In emoticons that's: 🍒🦐🌸🦓🐌 Fun🍒🦐🌸We actually got 5 adult shrimps and at least as many baby ones "for free". Also one of the adult <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/shrimp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#shrimp</a> appears to be pregnant (carrying eggs under her abdomen). That's so exciting!🐌Our snail appeared to have been a bladder snail which can reproduce like crazy... So we decided to get rid of it. The zebra <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/nerite" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#nerite</a> <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/snail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#snail</a> we bought should not reproduce. 🌿Plants are still growing very nicely, lots of new leaves appearing, roots extending... Daniel ColquittTonight was water test & change night for my <a href="https://colquitt.xyz/tags/aquarium" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#aquarium</a> :seas: and there’s something not quite right. After several weeks of being rock-solid stable, the water parameters are off. Small amounts of ammonia, pH 8.0, nitrites 1ppm, & nitrates at 40ppm. Nothing has changed as far as I can see. Fish seem happy enough, but there’s lots of algae and diatoms.Anyway, I did a 50% water change and will retest in a week. It's because nitrites and nitrates are still a little high (the water is still cycling <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/TrustTheProcess" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#TrustTheProcess</a> 🧑‍🔬🧪They are actually at a level still too high to buy any fish or shrimp or snail.
