Mina

What do users want from ?

@mina That's called LibreWolf and/or Mullvad browser

@SeverianX

Yes, but they depend heavily on the Mozilla code base.

@SeverianX @mina that dosen't mean that ff itself shoulden't have better privacy by default

@mina yeah, I want #Firefox devs to leave @mozilla and move to @torpro, making #TorBrowser the new #upstream!

@mina Oh this is an either-or choice? I did not know that. Do you have a source for that?

@mina False dichotomy.

In fact, this was done explicitly how users always tell Mozilla to do it: Default-off, has to be explictly enabled, nothing integrated, just loads something in a sidebar.

Well if it's up to me, I want Mozilla to get out of the ad business. It is not compatible with free software ideals. It is not compatible with the emphasis on privacy, as the "privacy-preserving" ad attribution debacle demonstrates. So many of their recent moves undermine what trust people still had in them. The deal with Google is fine, and provides them plenty of income for the time being. They shouldn't be so quick to spend all that cash instantly, on lavish CEO salaries and so many other things. They shouldn't be so quick to debase themselves the a desperate quest to find more.

Also, customizable hotkeys.

@mina

I keep looking at that 3% and wondering what they were thinking.

@mina 3) for them to stop fucking changing the UI

@mina I just need those Chatbots, otherwise I feel lonely.

@mina neither really, I want cool features like whatever Vivaldi is doing

on the "enhanced privacy" front I just expect the browser to not deliberately add features that specifically help advertisers and like not send off my data to 1000 partners (they can collect basic analytics for just themselves for all I care)

@mina I feel like the issue is that whoever Mozilla hired to decide what features does Firefox need, is someone who sees what's happening in the overall browser market, but doesn't understand Firefox's userbase. I imagine userbase now is mostly people who just don't like Google or Microsoft, because otherwise there's literally no reason to choose Firefox over Chrome or Edge (there are niche things like ad blocker in Firefox works better, but normal person wouldn't know that, and otherwise those 2 offer better features)

@mina I guess it's not entirely unreasonable to try to capture some new audience, but even then, Firefox's AI features aren't impressive enough to get any new audience, they just annoy existing userbase.

@mina Enhanced privacy by default.
Also For the hell of it I tried chatgpt in the sidebar and it wouldn't let me log in.

@mina I just want native vertical tabs

@mina

Enhanced privacy. An end to the idea of advertising based in tracking, an end.

@mina a thing where if you try to add regurgitation software, it electrocutes you

@mina Speed and customization for me, please.

@mina I really would love to know who voted for "Chatbots in the sidebar" and why :neocat_googly_shocked:

@ch0ccyra1n

I guess, these were chatbots hiding in the sidebar.

@ch0ccyra1n @mina I didn't click it but part of my guess is because the Enhanced Privacy features can break a bunch of websites, and without people knowing that they're even there to disable, they'll assume Firefox just can't do what other browsers can, and they'll switch away from Firefox.

@mina
It looks like 4 percent of respondents hold some animosity against Firefox users 😅

@mina

To pick up the groove:
What do you want from your doctor injected?

😅

@DerTapfere

I don't see the difference between the two questions.
