Komoot has been my bike app of choice until now
But given it is heading for enshittification I have searched out alternatives before my next #CrossBorderRail tour starts next week
For now Mapy looks like it will do all I need - explained in this blog post
https://crossborderrail.trainsforeurope.eu/komoot-you-saved-me-on-lithuanian-dirt-roads-and-the-streets-of-roma-but-its-time-for-something-new/
@jon Tried Mapy, but found the (audio) turn-by-turn navigation rather annoying. :/
@kornecke What was annoying about it? Audio not accurate enough? (I found Komoot quite weak on this audio point when cycling as well though)
@jon Found Mapy far too chatty. For each and every small intersection: „In 100 m gerageaus. In in 50m geradeaus. Jetzt geradeaus.“
Komoot seems to have some kind of selection algorithm on which intersections to anounce and which not.
(Found the in-accuracy (in the sense that „halb-links“ can mean almost everthing…) of Mapy similar to Komoot.)
@kornecke Ok, will pay a little more attention to that point. Whereas generally I am just using the screen more than bothering to listen!
@kornecke I have now added a line about this in the blog post, and referenced you in an update as well!
@jon Thanks for the mention. And of course for filtering alternatives to Komoot, appreciated! :)
