Yes #Trump is absolutely capable of hurting US interests if he senses a profit opportunity for himself.
On the other hand there is still a long way to go, since the US would have to lift its #sanctions on Russia before being able to do business with them.
Many occasions for the EU to warn the US before an actual sanctioning would take place someday.
But at the end of the day its all about power.
And that power is called #SWIFT & resides in the EU.

Germany would be among those who are bitterly opposed to sanctioning the US. And they are no pushover inside the EU.
It DOES seem unlikely. But so seemed the Russia sanctions back then.
